Fitness guru builds life, business in Summerlin

As someone who makes her living helping others to look and feel better, fitness guru Sitara Garma has a special appreciation for the beauty of Summerlin, the master-planned community where she operates a fitness business and lives with her husband, Genesis.

Garma, a four-year-resident of the village of Summerlin Centre, opened Core Fit last year in The Hills Business Park.  In less than one year, the high-end pilates studio has grown to nearly 10 employees.

“Summerlin is the ideal place for a fitness studio like Core Fit.” Said Garma, who credits the community’s healthy, active lifestyle and fitness-oriented residents for the success of her business.  “The community tends to attract those who are committed to healthy living so it’s been a great place to operate a pilates studio.”

Garma, who received her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Southern California, the nation’s top physical therapy program, also received a degree in kinesiology from UNLV.  She previously lived and worked in Los Angeles and said she now enjoys a brief seven-minute commute to work.

“I love living and working in the same community,” Garma said.
